Anthony E. Malkin is chairman and chief executive officer of Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. He received a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Harvard College and joined Chemical Venture Partners, L.P. in 1985. In 1989, Mr. Malkin joined Malkin Holdings, LLC and its affiliates, the predecessor of ESRT. Mr. Malkin is a leader in energy-efficiency retrofits in the built environment as a team coordinator with the Clinton Climate Initiative, Johnson Controls, JLL, and Rocky Mountain Institute in the groundbreaking retrofit project at the Empire State Building. At the Urban Land Institute, he led the development of standards for energy-efficient office tenant installations, now known as the Tenant Energy Optimization Program. Mr. Malkin frequently speaks to sustainability and the future of real estate, with recent appearances on CNN’s Quest Means Business, the Economic Club of New York with Gayle King, CNBC’s The Exchange, and Bloomberg Television. Active in the real estate and energy efficiency communities, Mr. Malkin is a board member of APi Group Corporation, the Climate Mobilization Advisory Board of the New York City Department of Buildings, the board of governors of the Real Estate Board of New York, and the Real Estate Roundtable, where he is also chair of the Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Partnership for New York City’s Innovation Council, the Building Committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy.
